Samples

“Design is a funny word. Some people think design is how it looks. But of course, if you dig deeper, it’s really how it works.”

Steve Jobs

Sample 1:
vision

The alchemy of design thinking is bringing a diverse group of people together to generate visionary solutions. This sample illustrates a successful series of design thinking sessions I led to look for new ways to entice customers to make purchases online.

Sample 2: leadership

Growing teams need leadership to define responsibilities and ensure the team can work together toward common goals. This sample describes how as strategy lead I facilitated sessions to help our team define roles and team goals.

Sample 3:
collaboration

As my final assignment for the IDEO class, “Insights for Innovation,” I looked at ways we could encourage more purposeful collaboration in the workplace. I presented this sample to my work colleagues. It’s more “wordy” than usual because it served a dual purpose as a presentation and as a final “paper” for the class.

Sample 4:
strategy

Ideas are great, but how do you translate them into real solutions? This sample walks through a project that required extensive strategic planning to ensure its timely execution and experience improvement.

Sample 5:
integrity

Understanding people’s motives for how they act can open honest dialogues that help change perceptions. This sample is a presentation I gave to a working group of design colleagues. It explores design principle #36, “The Expectation Effect,” from the Universal Principles of Design, by William Lidwell, Kritina Holden, and Jill Butler.

Sample 6:
results

All projects are measured by their results. Analyzing how a project did helps calibrate next steps. This sample demonstrates my results driven focus.
